Do you have gold in your portfolio?
Gold prices have been rising for many reasons over the past year. Recently, they rose in response to the European Central Bank commenting they may raise interest rates to keep the Euro strong. This caused the dollar to fall.
What It Means:
There is continued pressure against the dollar, which may continue to fall in response to high U.S. budget and trade deficits.
Action Steps:
Don't run out and buy gold as a speculative measure - it doesn't tend to rise rapidly enough to outpace inflation over the long haul - but do make sure you have some commodities, including gold, in your long term portfolio as a hedge against a declining dollar.
